Dr Klaus-Dieter Bastendorf

Dr Klaus-Dieter Bastendorf completed his dentistry studies at the University of Tübingen in Germany from 1970 to 1976 and received his doctorate in 1978. He has been working in his own practice since 1979. From 2002 to 2006, he taught applied prophylaxis at Heidelberg University in Germany. He is a co-author of the book Einfache und effektive Wege zur Prophylaxepraxis (Forum GesundheitsMedien, 2002) and author of the book (Spitta Verlag, 2005). Between 2005 and 2009, Dr Bastendorf was the editor-in-chief of PLAQUE N CARE. From 2007 to 2011, he was a senior member of the European Organisation for Caries Research. He has been a member of the board of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Präventivzahnmedizin (German society for preventive dentistry) since 1997 and has been the president of the Association for Dental Infection Control since 2011. Dr Bastendorf has carried out comprehensive studies on the technical effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of prevention in general practice, producing over 250 publications. He has also given around 550 lectures on the subject of individualised prophylaxis over the course of his career.
